Ford Formally Announces Purchase of Iconic Detroit Train Station

On June 19, 2018, Ford officially announced their purchase of one of Detroit's oldest iconic vacant buildings: the Michigan Central Station.

Boarded up in 1988 when the new Amtrack station was built in Detroit, MCS was owned by the Maroun family (owners of the Ambassador Bridge) from the 90's until Ford's recent purchase. During the time that they owned the station, few updates were made, other than new windows being installed – windows that many argued were not in keeping with the architecture of the building.

On Friday, June 22, Ford opened the building to the public for limited tours which occurred over multiple days so allow photos to be taken of the amazing building which was the tallest train station in the world at the time it was built.
